Paper Craftin with Erica

Harry Potter Wands

So, I found (can’t remember for the life of me where…. Etsy, maybe?) homemade Harry Potter wands.  I thought, “I can do that.”  So, I took a stab at it and made some for a friend.  I wanted wand boxes and searched and searched and finally found white boxes (that would fit my wands) with a velvet-like material inside.  I painted the boxes and then sanded them to make them look worn.  I printed an Olivanders logo on cardstock and modpodge’d that on.

It was really simple to make them, though rather time-consuming.  I used chopsticks… my daughter looked at me weirdly when I asked her to go and buy a bag.   I used hot glue to make random designs on the sticks.  Before doing that, though, I hot glued some embellishments onto some of them, e.g. skulls, owls, bling, dark flowers, a pearl, and spiders.  After all that, I painted them.

Here are some more.  Honestly, I couldn’t help but run around the house casting spells.  LOL.  ‘Wingardium Leviosa’  ‘Expecto Patronum’  ‘Expelliarmus’

Although I have an entire craft room in the basement, I just had to do this all in the kitchen… so I could watch Harry Potter, of course.  I suppose I could’ve watched it downstairs on my iPad, but that doesn’t compare to my upstairs system.  I packed away my HP-making supplies for next time.

Though I’m madly in love with the HP series, I love giving away homemade gifts.  My friend adored them and I hope to make more in the near future.  Perhaps for more of my HP fanatic friends… perhaps for me!  XOXOXO

It’s amazing what you can do with chop sticks they are a very useful part of our creative stash. Love your wands and so nice to think they have been passed on to those that appreciate all your hard work. Enjoy making more.

Those wands and boxes are brilliant – you are so clever!! I love the distressed look of the boxes. I’m also a massive HP fan and remember clearly gasping on seeing Ollivander’s wand shop in the movie for the first time. It was JUST how I imagined it, rows and rows of dusty boxes. Perfect! You should sell those wands on etsy, they’d fly off the shelves 😉
