Pearl Ex & Xyron Tutorial

This is ONE way to use your PearlEx powders with your stamped images.  You’ll need clear acetate, StazOn ink, large Xyron, and Pearl Ex powders.

Stamp your image (with StazOn ink) on the clear acetate.  Be careful NOT to move the stamp around because it is VERY easy to smudge the image (it’s slippery).  Then run the acetate through the Xyron with the image face DOWN (so the sticky stuff gets on the actual stamped part).

Take a small amont of PearlEx powder and brush it onto the “sticky” image.  Be careful when you brush; the powder likes to “hop” its way around the picture and once it’s on there… it’s on there forever.  This is important if you want to use different colors throughout the image.

When you have the entire image covered, take a larger paintbrush and “sweep” the entire image so that you’re sure the entire thing is covered with color and to remove any excess powder.

Then run the acetate/image through your Xyron again.  Again, run it through face DOWN or the COLORED side down.  You want the sticky stuff to be on the ‘back’ of the image.

Adhere your acetate/image to a black piece of cardstock.  You can essentially use any color, but the black makes the powders “pop” in your image.

Then adhere/mat your acetate/image to your choice of colored cardstock.  When creating these PearlEx images, I also stick to matting on shiny paper… again, this makes the image pop.  For this, I used gold and copper.

All you need to do now is make your card!  Here’s what I ended up with!
